May visit RPI with my DD who is interested in a dual major of Business/Comp Sci this Spring. When is best to visit…so the campus won’t be a frozen tundra and will look it’s best 
and what hotel do you recommend? Thanks!

List of hotels are at http://admissions.rpi.edu/undergraduate/visit/lodging.html. Latham is quick drive via Route 7 to Troy and has a variety of hotels available. Latham also has shopping malls and a large number of restaurants.
@tpcrd66, Both of the top two hotels are fine. The best western is in a part of town that’s walkable to get to places, but the Hilton might be a little nicer hotel. My experience is a couple years old at this point.
I recommend visiting sometime in April.
I suggest you take a look at TripAdvisor, also. From the comments through yesterday, the Best Western hotel had construction going on in a portion of the hotel. Upgrades are nice but I didn’t want the potential of noise, etc. I skipped them from consideration for our visit next month.
