Cinnamon rolls–that’s [The Frontier Restaurant](http://www.vinaigretteonline.com). It on Central Ave directly across from the UNM Bookstore
Traffic alert–ABQ is in the middle of a MAJOR road reconstruction along Central Ave. Check traffic conditions before you attempt to go anywhere on Central AVe.
Mexican food–it’s tough to go wrong. My favorites include:
[Cocina Azul/url
Sadies of New Mexico/url
Monroe’s Chile/url
Cervantes
El Pinto](http://www.cocinaazul.com) --the outside garden seating is really nice in warm weather
Mary &Titos’s
Warning–the chile at Cocino Azul and Sadies tends to be hotter than other places
(IMO opinion avoid Garcia’s, El Patron, and Garduno’s. Food is mediocre compared to other places)
If you have veggie lovers-- try [Vinaigrette. (Between Old town & Downtown on Central) Salad-centric restaurant. Everything is locally sourced.
If you like kitschy, try The Standard Diner](http://www.vinaigretteonline.com) Featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives several times
[The Grove Cafe](http://www.thegrovecafemarket.com)–only open for breakfast & lunch. Where Walter White poisoned Lydia
Italian/Gourmet Pizza/Pizza
[Piantanzi East](http://www.piatanzieast.com) or [Piantanzi[url</a>]
Farina or Farina Alta](http://www.piatanzi.com)
[Giovanni’s Pizza](http://www.giovannispizzaalbuquerque.com)–real NY style pizza in the SW. This is is just a basic pizza joint–plastic silverware and paper plates.
[Golden Crown Panderia](Golden Crown Panaderia – "Who Would Know Crust Better Than a Baker?") Mexican bakery that also sells pizzas and sandwiches. Tiny and very busy.
Trendy dining
You might also check out the [Green Jeans Farmery](https://www.greenjeansfarmery.com) --Microbreweries and street food (ABQ has HUGE food truck scene)
[Fork &Fig](http://www.forkfig.com) Sandwiches & salads
(I prefer Filling Phillys next door, but I grew up in the Philly suburbs and waited 30+ years to get a decent cheese steak.)
Fancier/dressier places – but not seriously dressy–you can wear nice jeans and not get a funny look from the waitperson
Zinc Restaurant and Wine Bar
Artichoke Cafe
Farm & Table (all organic and locally sourced food. The restaurant operates the farm right next door.)
Season’s Rotisserie and Grille
Microbreweries– Abq is a big national player in the microbrewery movement. There must be 30+ microbreweries around town, (It’s all those retired chemists from the National Lab!) I can make recs if you want to sample beers. Some serve food; some have food trucks in the parking lot.
