Visiting soon, would love some advice

Hello All,

Our family is driving to Bama from Austin this next week. Should be a fun road-trip!

I’m looking for advice on any great, local places for dinner, and any must see locations (aside from the school, of course)

On Friday, we’ll tour the school and hopefully meet with some CBHP faculty, but before and afterwards we have time to sightsee.

Thanks for any advice (school tour advice is welcome too, of course).

Cheers,
Psy

Hi,
What do you all like to eat?

Visiting the Paul Bear Bryant Museum can be interesting even if you’re not a big sports fan.

The RiverWalk along Jack Warner Pkwy can be a lovely stroll ~ particularly after eating breakfast at Another Broken Egg Cafe.

Hi! We eat almost anything (my wife is a non-fussy vegetarian). We make it a point to try local places whenever we travel, America has so many local gems.

Thank you for the links! The Mercedes plant tour looks amazing (http://www.mbusi.com/visitor-center) sadly it requires 10 days (!) advanced notice. If my son is lucky enough to warrant a CBHP revisit, we’ll hit this for sure.

Excited to visit Alabama for the first time!

There are Thai restaurants located on the strip. I think either would be a good choice for a vegetarian. They are Surin of Thailand and Ruan Thai. There is also an Indian restaurant, Sitar Indian Cuisine. If your wife eats fish, then you can try the Japanese restaurants for sushi. There is a Mellow Mushroom, which will make all types of pizza.

Maki Fresh is on McFarland but on the Northport side. It also has some veggi choices.

Thank you both for the recommendations!

If you want to try local Alabama raised food, Epiphany Cafe in downtown Tuscaloosa is a great farm to fork restaurant. Highly recommend it. It also has great cocktails and craft brewed beers.

And then there’s BBQ. Dreamland and Archibald’s come to mind.

I don’t think there is much choice for a vegetarian at the BBQ restaurants, Dreamland offers virtually no vegetables, Full Moon offers salads and baked potatoes with toppings but their collard greens are cooked with meat.

For other food selections in Tuscaloosa area relevant for including veg-friendly (hit on this trip or another) - compiled list from various parent visitors:

Love to hear your feedback on the trip too…

BBQ just doesn’t square well with vegetarianism. lol…after all, the main point is BBQing some sort of meat.

Jason’s Deli has an extensive salad bar that could be an option for a vegetarian. I think the only meat in the salad bar are the bacon bits. and there are whole eggs.

Does your wife eat fish, eggs, or cheese? If so, some of the Mexican restaurants could be an option.

I had the salmon at Taziki’s the other day and it was very good.

Have a wonderful visit!
