Visiting Soon

We are visiting Wash U soon. Staying at the Sheraton. Any suggestions for dinner near there?

Anything to note or see while visiting the campus?

Thanks!

The campus is beautiful. Adjacent to the campus is Forest Park which is home to an incredible zoo (that is free)! Central West End is a very nice neighborhood not too far from there. Also I believe where you are staying is by a very nice mall. Took a downtown walking tour that was very good. A lot of architectural history in St. Louis and the arch is amazing but not necessary to go up to see from ground is fabulous and under the arch is a good IMax movie if it is rainy.

It depends upon how long you will be there. I’m not sure where your hotel is but if you have a car there’s quite a bit (particularly in the way of food) nearby. My husband and I were just there for parents weekend and spent quite a bit of time on campus. However, we also went to the Hill with our son for Italian food. We ate at Anthoninos which was excellent and reasonable. Probably the best pasta and clams we have had. Also, Ted Drews frozen custard and, of course, Pappy’s Smokehouse for Bar-be-que. As for things to see, the loop is a nice walk from campus. My son wanted us to try a Fitz’ root beer float and we had good burgers at Blueberry Hill. Unfortunately, we didn’t have much time for sightseeing (aside from the stores he wanted to purchase things at) but we live in Florida so the fall colors alone were a treat.

I hope you have a great visit. It is an amazing school!

For anyone visiting, we stayed at the Sheraton - short drive to school. We ate at J Bucks - very good. Not too expensive.
