visiting the campus

hey guys,

im going on a trip to LA and i was plannin on visiting USC and seeing what the campus is like and just the overall atmosphere. I also kinda want to talk to admissions and here what they have to say (maybe a tour type thing) and talk to a bunch of students and everything.

but my question is this. Should I call ahead and like call admissions or something beforehand and tell them that im coming and like set up an appointment or should i just show up and just look around and walk in to the admissions.

im very very interested in USC and it is one of my top choices for school so i want to get a feel for what school is like and the whole nine yards.

thanks.

This also goes the same for UCLA and i posted something similar in their part of the forum.

USC has guided tours. I don't have the exact link but if you search for them on their site I'm sure it will pop up. They're an hour long and take you to some of the highlights. If you would like I believe they also have half day seminars but those are more infrequent.

There are two organized programs for campus visits for prospective freshman. I recommend you sign up for one of these, preferably the first one-

-Meet USC- 3 hour program with tour and information sessions (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays)
-Campus Tour only- 1 hour (Monday-Friday)

Get more info and sign up here- USC Undergraduate Admission: Visit USC

Start learning to search the colleges' websites for info. I'm sure UCLA has organized tours for prospective freshman you can find on their website.

Good Luck!

I recommend that you do the 3 hour tour. My son did the 3 hour tour last summer in August. It turned out that he did the tour on a Friday when the incoming students were there before school started with the welcome activities.
My son said the tour was the best he went on and when he saw the welcome festivities (looked like a very nice outdoor welcome lunch), USC felt like a great fit.

USC keeps a list of the prospective students that visit. Make an appointment & get on that list. You have a better chance of being accepted if they know you want SC. SC is verrrry attuned to the USN&WR criteria.
