Hey everyone,
I'll be at Tufts tomorrow and just wanted to know if there is anything that I NEED to see-- there are no tours being offered b/c it's a Saturday--- so I'll be taking the walking tour and I'll meet up with someone who is currently a sophomore and will show me around. What really impressed you when you visited? What can I not pass up? Any / all suggestions appreciated. Thanks :)

Of course you have to spend a little time with the Jumbo statue near Dana Lab :)

I would definitely check out a dorm if you can, and eat in the dining hall.

i've been on two tours at tufts. one with a ditzy girl who didn't know what the heck she was talking about and continuously talked to the trees ahead of her instead of the group behind her. we left that tour early. the second tour was led by this inciteful gentleman who really helped me get a new understanding of the school.
RULE NUMBER 1- when they take you outside with a few tour guides (if it's a big tour group), always pick your tour guide wisely!!

Go to Brown and Brew for the hot chocolate and whipped cream.

Go on roof of the library. It's an incredible view. :)

Yeah, check out the library's roof for sure, very cool.

Just walk all around the campus. It isn't big, so it won't take too long. Go inside buildings if you can. When I visited, I walked all around the athletic facility, which to me, is an important factor in a college.

I ate at Dewick (sp?) when I went. It was reccomended by our tour guide and several others as the best place to eat, and it did nothing to contradict their opinions. Get a voucher/coupon thing from the visitor center/admissions place (where tours are started) for the food though, because otherwise it is like $10 per person.

Thanks for the advice, everyone! I had a GREAT time at Tufts. My tour guide was AWESOME-- she took me everywhere.... ariesathena-- the Brown n Brew hot chocolate was delicious! I also got to see the scitech building and see the labs, the library (and the view- great!), and just about every other Tufts landmark (Jumbo, of course!) I can't wait until letters are mailed out. Does anyone know when we find out???

Mid-to-late March.

Good luck to all. :)

Thanks~ Good Luck everyone else!!!!! :) :) :)

wait did you know there is a trap door below the carpet of the physics lab ( electrical components) connecting to another one in the library ( behind the shelf with the engineering books ) ? Tell me you used it, its a legend amongst the upperclassmen ( not everyone knows about it, many fraternities do though) I am so excited now!!!

PS : It was built orignally to prevent engineers from getting harssed in the early 40's and to give them an alternate route from the cold weather.

You're kidding me. I have not heard anything like this on campus. This must be fake. I will definitely try and find out baahahaha.

Oh wow how funny! Harassed? Wow.

wow seriously !!! well engineers were sort of considered as really nerdy and were picked on by other classmen, hence the secret passage .
