My daughter, a HS junior, visited Tufts last summer and really liked it. We did the information session and the tour. She would like to go back and see a little more, basically to decide whether this is "the place" and she should apply Early Decision in the fall. I see on the website an option to attend a class - what other options are available to her to get a real feel for the place (some schools do overnight and lunch visits, etc. but I did not see anything like this on the Tufts site). Due to her school schedule, I am not sure when we will be able to visit (may have to be summer again.)

We’re doing overnights for accepted students right now, and I know that the School of Engineering has a few open houses in the fall. But I’m not sure what there is beyond that.

If your daughter has any older friends at Tufts, she could probably pretty easily stay with them for a day or two. If not, even coming to campus for a tour and then sticking around to attend classes is pretty simple–I doubt that any professor would really mind having an extra person in class for a day.

Hi Kiddie:

We were in the same boat last year. My S just applied ED and will be a freshman at Tufts this Fall.

He did not stay overnight…not sure if that was an option or not. But we went back a second time and spent a full day:

He sat in on 2 separate classes, met with the Dept. Chair of his intended major, ate in the dining room, talked to students walking around, went in and out of buildings freely, sat at the coffee cafe across the street from the campus, went to Davis Square to check out stores and restaurants…

He was sure Tufts was for him at our first visit in November of Junior year, but went back for a second time in April and was well prepared as to what he wanted to accomplish on his day there, and I mean full day…he basically ruled out all other colleges rather quickly. He had a strong connection and is very psyched about attending.
