I am looking to go on a college tour during my April break week, and I was wondering what the best way of going about visiting would be. I have gotten plenty of emails about Destination Tulane- can anyone tell me more about this? From what I've read, it seems to be purely an academic tour, ending at 3 or so in the afternoon. I am hoping to get a feel of the social aspect, and I feel as if an organized afternoon full of lectures and visiting the "Newcomb Art Gallery Exhibit" will not give me the full Tulane experience.

Any ideas as to how to go about experiencing Tulane for real? Obviously visiting the city is essential, but is there any way to get a feel of the campus/night life otherwise?

Could someone tell me about the overnights at Tulane? (Not honors)

Hi headingsouth - Destination Tulane is a general tour and a bit more, like lunch on campus and a class or two that you can sit in on. So you are certainly right about that. But I am not aware of any school, and certainly none that my D visited, that did more than that except for the ones that had the equivalent of Honors Weekend.

As far as I know, Tulane does not arrange for overnights. However, if you know someone at Tulane already you can try and arrange something with them personally. That is allowed, I think then they just have to notify housing that they have a guest. Since you go to such a large high school, I would think there are people from previous classes that are at Tulane. That is certainly the best way to really experience Tulane, especially if you can stay a couple of nights. Obviously you cannot get the “full Tulane experience” or “experience Tulane for real” (or any other school for that matter) even in a couple of days and nights, but I know what you mean and that would come closest. It would just depend on what is going on at the time as to what you would experience. Also finals won’t be far off so that might have an impact on how much people are willing to go out. Depends on if you are talking very early April or later in April.
