Visiting Tuscaloosa

Just a simple question, what restaurants, etc., would anyone recommend in Tuscaloosa? Thanks.

R.Davidson Chophouse, DePalmas, Dreamland BBQ, Jim n Nicks BBQ, Chucks Fish, Taco Mama to name a few…depends what you are looking for.

Dreamland BBQ is supposedly the best BBQ in town. But I was disappointed. Good, but not great. Then again, I’m used to Texas BBQ, so it might just be the difference between TX BBQ and AL BBQ.

We really liked Five, in downtown Tuscaloosa: http://five-bar.com/bar-locations/tuscaloosa-alabama/

And I really liked the pulled chicken sandwich and fries I got from Full Moon BBQ on the quad during Homecoming. Here’s a link to the restaurant: https://fullmoonbbq.com/location/tuscaloosa

Jim and Nick’s is the better of the 3. Dreamland not good at all. Nobody knows what burnt ends are?

Like all BBQ places, sometimes Dreamland does not live up to the hype. But sometimes, they’re sublime. There is also Archibald’s BBQ. It’s a little place in a residential section of Northport. There are a few picnic tables, but it’s mostly to-go.
NOTE: Texas BBQ usually means beef. Alabama BBQ is pork and chicken…but mostly pork. Raven2016, are you asking what burnt ends are? Or are you stating that nobody knows what burnt ends are?

I appreciate all the BBQ recommendations. Coming from Memphis, though…

We stayed at the Capstone Hotel and the restaurant inside was decent. After a long day on the tour it was just fine. We also had breakfast at the Metro Diner and it was a typical breakfast place but I thought it was better than most.
