Visiting UCSB

I'm thinking of visiting the school but I'm debating whether I should visit while they're on break (this week) or wait until next week for the campus tours. I was thinking it'd be preferable to see the school while it's not in session but I don't know... Opinions?

Definitely visit when school is in session. You must experience the near death experience of almost getting hit by students riding their bikes because you stepped into their right of way. You really need to see the students in action, in the library, in the common areas, dorms, etc. The campus tours are ok, usually fast talkers who walk backwards, but you will be better served talking to and observing students. Have fun!

I recommend when school is in session, but definitely take the tour.

School in session so you can have a feel of the campus and what kind of people go there :)

Go while school is in session. It’s worth it for the bike path experience alone.

Soo much angst over bike paths… ;)
