Visiting UNC, Good place for lunch?

We are visiting UNC this week and I'd like to take my son somewhere either on campus or maybe on Franklin Street for him to get a bit of a feel for the area. Where would you suggest?

Top of the Hill on the corner of Columbia St. and E. Franklin (100 E. Franklin - 3rd floor)! It’s a Chapel Hill tradition, and if you sit outside you’ll get a great bird’s eye view of Franklin Street. The sweet potato fries with bleu cheese are terrific!

Thanks. We will try Top of the Hill.

Top of the Hill’s food isn’t even really that great in my opinion…

I’d suggest Spanky’s. It’s right across the street from Top O.

Yeah I’ve never actually liked Top O. I eat at buns a lot. If you want SUPER cheap but lovable then Franklin St Pizza and Pasta, Noodles, or Sutton’s are all good. Those are my most frequented places when I’m low on cash.

And finish it off w/ a trip to the Cold Stone Creamery. :)

No no no finish it off with a trip to the YOGURT PUMP! Much cheaper. And awesomer.

PS: Cloying I ate at Buns yesterday for my Easter dinner…please come back so we can get YoPo, thanks.

heather, I salute you. Buns is the best. I was going to suggest it, but I think the original posters have already eaten by now.

I second the recommendation of Spanky’s; great soups and sandwiches and lots of UNC sports memorabilia on the walls. Much better lunch spot than Top O.

Pepper’s Pizza is a Franklin St landmark.

If you are there for dinner and want a nice (and a tad expensive) meal 411 West is very nice and an easy walk.
