Visiting west point

kpsong, where are you flying out from? I was almost 2 hours late for my tour because of problems with the rental agency but it was really not a huge deal.

A word of warning to anyone flying into Stewart and making a connecting flight in Detroit: check the gates!!

My cadet headed back to WP after spring break, and easily found his gate, but realized after sitting there waiting for an extended period that the departure gate had been changed from what was printed on his ticket not even a few hours before. Made for a very stressful return trip to post, though they put him on the next connecting flight. The same thing happened to me when I flew up there about a month ago...only I realized in time and got to the correct gate w/o watching the plane taxi away. Apparently Detroit is notorious for last minute gate changes, and I neglected to mention that to said cadet. :(

kpsong, jfk may be may be way cooler, but for us old, inexperienced, and less adventurous travelers, it is way more stressful :). My son did the bus/train/taxi solo one time from LaGuardia and made it just fine, travelling back to post in the midafternoon on a Sunday. I just have no idea what the travel intensity would be like during the morning rush on a week day. Sounds like you have researched this thoroughly though, so I wish you the best of luck! When is your visit?
