Visiting

I'm currently going to be a senior in high school and I'm going to visit the Penn campus next week. Aside from some of my own questions I am going to ask, do you guys suggest anything I should see/do/ask when I am there?

What did you guys do when you visited.. Will I be able to see a summer class?

Thanks

It's highly unlikely that you'll get to see a summer class. There aren't many of them, they're mostly small, and they don't really show you what a normal class is like. I wouldn't sweat that. On the other hand, if you find students or professors around, they may be more likely to chat with you. Go up to a random person, ask them how they're affiliated with the university, and get their advice on a restaurant or something. Most Penn people will be more than willing to share.

The campus is great...but will not be that busy during the summer.

You can tour the whole campus in 2-3 hours....it centers on Locust Walk.

There are lots of local stores, restaurants, museums, etc....what are you interested in?

I just posted this link in another forum...the future of Penn's campus: http://www.evp.upenn.edu/news/UPenn_ExecSummary.pdf

Thank you both for replying.

I'll be there for one day because I'm seeing a bunch of campuses in a week (Columbia, Penn, NYU, Cornell), but I'll be sure to do what you suggested.

Here is a 'virtual' tour of Penn to familiarize yourself with the campus: Virtual Tour of Penn's Campus

This is information from admissions about visiting: Penn Admissions: Visiting Penn

And here is a link to the student newspaper section on restaurants, museums, and cultural activities on campus: 34th Street Magazine

Have fun!!
