i'm visiting Cornell in a week and i was wondering. what should i do there?! i'm applying there, and i will attend the info session and stuff, but what ELSE should i do?

You can attend an info session, observe the campus, and then leave. That’s all I did.

how was it?

If you have time, and a car, in daytime drive to Taughannock Falls, or failing that, Buttermilk Falls or Treman state parks. You can go swimming at the latter two I believe, you’d have to check that though. Or you can go to Stewart Park and rent a canoe and go out on Cayuga Lake (also to be checked). If you’re staying overnight find an Ithaca Journal, and a Cornell source, and check out what is going on in Ithaca and on campus. If you’re there on a Monday night there might be live music radio show (Bound for Glory) you can see at Annabel Taylor Hall. You can grab dinner on the Commons and walk around there a bit. If you’re with a veggie-person try Moosewood, it’s well-known in those circles. Otherwise, just whatever looks interesting.

When I was there last week, the “university overview” information session was Saturday only, the individual college info sessions were held twice or once daily. There was also a separate “Freshman Experience” tour at 3pm which went to North Campus and the freshman dorms.

Get some Cornell ice cream at the Millenium cafe, it’s good.

Ithaca Journal is a good source. Check this page as well: [Cornell University - Events Calendar](<a href=“Events Calendar - Cornell”>Events Calendar - Cornell)

Go on top of the McGraw Tower, and see people play the chimes, etc: [Cornell University - Search Cornell](<a href=“Cornell University | Search Pages”>Cornell University | Search Pages)

If you’re a music lover there’s also this:
[GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance:](Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance)
I suspect festival performers will be stopping off in Ithaca before the festival too, so there might be some good free music on the commons.

I have been informed that the name is Trillium, not Millenium. It wasn’t there when I attended, so perhaps I can be forgiven. Hope you found it anyway.

To be exact, it’s at Trillium Express, right next to Trillium.
?? What wasn’t there? You meant, Dairy Bar hadn’t moved when you were visiting?

Are you just visiting the college or looking for “what else to do” in the area?

As ^^ others have said, there are many things to do in the area. There is a lake (swimming, boating), parks (with beautiful waterfalls and swimming holes-Ithaca is “gorges”), winery’s to visit, music, etc.

If you are talking about just visiting the campus, besides the info session and tour I would recommend attending an info session for the school you are planning to apply to. Some of these have very small groups and they are almost an interview. They take your name and know who attends. We found CAS to be a bigger group and maybe engineering. But it is worth going.

Also, drive around the campus and visit the bookstore. Spend some time in collegetown. You get a feel of the diversity of the campus–even in summer.

The Summer College program is underway, so North Campus has several hundred HS seniors until August 7 in Donlon & Balch. There are also several sports camps underway using the North Campus dorms & athletic facilities.

"What wasn’t there? "
Trillium.
I attended a long time ago.
