Hi everyone, I'm gonna be an eletrical engineer attending SMU and I'm wondering what software is best suited for my college lifestyle? Also can someone explain the differences to me? Thank you

depends. where are you buying it/if you’re getting a free upgrade to windows 7 when it comes out?

I don’t know what the differences are, but I have Home Premium and I’m really happy with it. :)

Business .

I have a hard copy of Ultimate, and on the back, it explains…

Both have:

Windows Defender/Windows Firewall
Instant Search and Windows IE7
Windows Flip 3D Navigation
Windows Mobility Center and Tablet Support

Home Premium has:

Windows Media Center
Connectivity with Xbox 360 etc

Business has:

Advanced business backup features
Business networking and remote desktop

It’s pretty crazy, the price differences between versions of Windows OS versions for what you get. (According to their box, anyways)

I personally would just get the absolute cheapest version. Most of the differences are software you’ll never use anyways.

(This is off of the absolute first version of it, though. They sent us this as a “thank you” for testing for them, just before official launch. I don’t know if future versions had other differences.)

Here’s a very simplistic view: Ultimate is pointless and mostly for bragging rights. For college students, Home Premium and Business are almost the same. Do not get Home Basic under any circumstances. The end.
