Did anyone turn in an arts supplement for visual arts? Like drawing and painting? Did you put in your best samples from this past year or from all of high school? Do you know if Pton is doing any special recruiting in the arts?

To preface what I'm going to tell you, I'll have you know--first and foremost--that I have no real "facts" to back up my theory. However, I DO have a sibling whose in their 2nd year at Princeton, and I have been told this on more than one occasion...

President Tilghman and the admissions office are increasingly placing more emphasis on the arts, and thus have said they are increasingly looking to admit students who thrive--or whos passions lie--in the areas such as theather, dance, art, what have you. Again, they have made no official statement. There has been no article deeming this true. But I have a pretty strong feeling that Princeton is looking to expand its "artsy", if you will, student base.

All in all, if you're expecting to find a bunch of goggle-wearing, lab-coat-sporting engineers on campus (and I suppose you may), Princeton has all types! If the arts is something you value, you'll be more than pleased with the school and what it has to offer. Good luck.

P.S. That Princetonian sibling of mine...ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT!

As in, we can barely get her back home for breaks.

there are tons of applicants who are musically, theatrically, and artistically affluent though...probably one in three applicants is high achieving in the arts...
