Exciting season coming up next year: Romeo and Juliet, Merrily We Roll Along, Dancing at Lughnasa, Avenue Q, and the opera Orpheus and Eurydice. Just wondering if any potential students have any questions and would like to post in this thread instead of the main one?
My daughter has been admitted with a good merit/talent scholarship. We visited this summer and she really loved the facilities, city of LaCrosse and all of the administrators etc.One thing I am a little concerned about is that it seems like a lot of students are within a few hours of the school. We live in California. What is it like on the weekends, do a lot of the students clear out. I guess I should mention she is a theater tech major with an emphasis in costume design.
We live over 12 hours away so I do understand your concern, @lastof4. Some people go home on the weekends, but many do not, especially the students involved in the Performing Arts. There are kids from California, Colorado, Tennessee, Canada, Puerto Rico, and more. Please don’t hesitate to contact me or post here if you have any questions. D just completed her third semester and couldn’t be more proud of her choice to attend Viterbo or the progress that she has made. Incidentally, we find flights pretty easy to La Crosse from Memphis. Flights from wherever will usually connect in Chicago or Minneapolis before coming to La Crosse.
Looks like we are going to give it a go…a little nervous at how far away it is, but sounds like they really take good care of their students. Do you think your daughter might be willing to have my daughter contact her. Also, any advise you would give us as we embark on this journey? Thanks
@lastof4, I will send you a pm in just a sec. I would try to go for a visit in conjunction with their upcoming production of Avenue Q if possible. They will comp y’all tickets. There is a guy in my D’s class who is from San Diego.
For anyone interested, next year’s lineup will include: 9 to 5, James And The Giant Peach, Big Love, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, one more play (can’t remember the name) and a Chamber Opera.
My D and I are going to see Avenue Q next week. So excited to see the show and tour the school. D auditioned at Chicacgo and I was very impressed with the faculty that we met.
@proudmamajo, I can give y’all tons of recommendations for your visit. I think y’all are really going to be impressed. it really is a special place. I am going to try to send you a private message.
My d may go there as a VP major can she anyone audition for shows? Thanks
@MEL2421. Yes! And, she can re-audition for BFA MT in December if she wants to. My D auditioned for VP while she was auditioning for MT as a safety. Their VP department is very impressive, too. I am going to send you a pm.
My D is finishing her freshman year in the BFA MT pgm. We are from UT. It has been a wonderful program and school. Very balanced. Great mentoring from the teachers. She couldn’t be happier. She visited last spring and it was very helpful in making her decision. She sat in on several classes and ate lunch with students and we saw a performance of their wonderful show choir, Platinum Edition. I am also willing to answer any Qs you may have.
