I usually miss 1/2 sentence completion questions on practice tests. I have two questions:
A): Is it worth it to study vocab in the week I have until the June SAT, or should I just take more practice tests this weekend and hope for the best?

B): If the answer to A) is yes, then would it be wise/possible to go through the Direct Hits books in the coming week?

P.S.: I'm aiming for an 800CR.

Thanks All!

Aiming for an 800 when you get half the sentence completion questions wrong?

You can go with Direct Hits, but I would only do that if you have the time and if you already are very good on passage-based reading. I don’t think it’s normal to get all the passage-based questions correct and get half the sentence completion correct. Be realistic about that 800 goal…cramming doesn’t work so well.

A) Just take practice tests.

lol, I just ordered Direct Hits and probably won’t get it until Wednesday…that gives me about three days for 400 words.

I am pretty good at cramming though…

@Ammadsh: There are definitely about 15 sentence completion questions. 1 or 2 is not half of 15.
I’m already really good at passage questions (I usually miss 1 at most).

How much time would it take to go through the second volume of direct hits?

silverturtle in another thread told me that you could probably go through DH in a day…not sure how much work that would be though and how much you’d actually retain…but that’s what I plan on doing, and then reviewing the next couple of days

Sorry, I misunderstood your first post where you said you miss 1/2 of the sentence completion questions. I thought you meant one half, not one or two. Also, I’m not totally sure, but I believe that the actual amount is about 19 or so sentence completion questions in total.

In that case, go for it if you have the time.
