Vocab

Can someone suggest a resource for learning the words needed to understand critical reading passages? Currently we have Barrons flashcards , but my daughter is not too motivated to learn out of them. Are there some books that are more effective? (for a reluctant reader)

Thanks

flocabulary

"Tooth & Nail" & "Test of Time" are novels with SAT words & a glossary in the back. There are others, but those books are fairly interesting to read (I read it too). They may be available at your public library or most bookstores in the test prep sections.

make sure to do the barrons cards! it took me like half a year, but it raised my critical reading from 540 to around 640. Retaking in october after learning some more, in hopes of getting 700

Thank you all for giving great suggestions!

I am studyying barrons 3500 words. So far I memorized out of 2500 about 2400. I keep forgetting a few.. and they are non-importnat words so :D.

I liked Word Smart.

Any list or something online?

Barrons has a hot word list and a very hot word list :D.

I use PR's word smart and word smart II.

Is that a fairly accurate list???

(it's said for anyone who wants to build a strong vocab, and there's a section for SAT hit parade)
