Vocal Performance at BOCO

I see plenty of info on the MT program but little on the CC boards on the VP program. MY D is making her final decision now and we could use any input we can get. Cost is obviously a big factor here, we asked for a financial aid reconsideration and we have our fingers crossed.
What is considered a good offer from BOCO? She has narrowed the field down to Shenandoah Conservatory, James Madison and BOCO. Next week she will be visiting schools again and taking lessons. The big question is whether she wants the “college experience” or the “conservatory” one. JMU seems all college, SU appears to be a cross and BOCO is all conservatory. My D lives and breathes music, I think the choice will be obvious, but of course, SHE needs to experience the schools and make that assessment.

I don’t know how helpful my post will be, as I can’t really comment on “what a good offer is”, but I just wanted you to know that my D is friends with and has worked with several BoCo VP grads and was very, very impressed with them. One of them now works as a local voice teacher and she known to be exceptionally knowledgeable. We have heard only great things about BoCo VP!

As you said, a lot of this will be very personal, and depend on what your D is looking for. It will all “click” hopefully when she walks around the different campuses :D.

Your thought process is spot on. 10K scholarships (free money) is generally on the very high side for girls. Having her spend time at both campuses is the way to go. The decision will become a clear one.

Good luck.
