Does anyone have any feedback on this program? The only thread I've ever seen involves a horn player from a few years ago who ended up there after the teacher at Frost moved there. Nothing about voice/opera. My daughter spoke with a rep at a recent Performing Arts College Fair.We went to the table to get a free pen for my husband (haha-he's an alum) and were pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the rep and the cost. The location is also appealing since she thinks she wants to be in or near an urban area.
I'd welcome other suggestions. She is a junior and has been taking private voice lessons for two years (prior to that was taking sax lessons for five years). Taking AP Music Theory this year. She is a soprano, has done well at NYSSMA, is starting to think about trying to audition at a few places. Open to BA programs so she could do a double major (journalism, communications, creative writing).

I am in the west, but have never heard of their program. Why not research what their recent grads are up to (what grad schools they get into etc)? If you are looking at the southwest—ASU Tempe has a very good undergrad voice program and if your daughter has good grades she is eligible for the Barrett Honors College program and financial assistance.

Thanks. Their website has a fairly extensive list of where their grads have gone which looks fine (though perhaps more leaning towards instrumental). The faculty in voice and opera are from Eastman and MSM. She is a good student and would no doubt qualify for honors at UNM. Probably not too interested in exploring other options in the southwest though.

Do research based on VP only. Just because a dept has good instrumental performance teachers does not signify that they have good VP teachers. Ask the VP faculty how their students fair.
