Honestly, I'm one of those people who are still exploring where they should be and what they want to study, but I know FOR SURE that performance is where my heart lyes.

So I've been sort of deciding on what major I'm most suitable in.
At first I wanted to do Musical Theatre, then I realized I really don't have much experience in acting nor dance. The most I've done was a few high school plays and I've never had an actual LEAD.

The only thing I've really studied throughout my life was voice/singing. Broadway and Musicals surely are amazing, but I mainly focus on the music aspect of it. I've been singing for such a long time. Never took voice lessons, but I have been taking Piano lessons for 8 years, which helps A LOT in singing. And I've been in chorus since Elementary school, all the advanced select choirs in Middle school and High School. Did 2 All county concerts my junior year.

So should I decide on Vocal Performance?!

I mean, sure I'd love to study Musical Theatre and acting and such, I'm just afraid that because of my lack of experience, no school is going to accept me.

Have you checked out the MT section of CC for the way things work in that world? It makes admission as a music performance major look like a piece of cake. Even people who have had years of training in singing, dancing and acting find it difficult to get into a decent MT program. Acceptance rates are typically in the low single digits, particularly if you happen to be female. You need to be seriously good to have any chance at all and if you have never had a lead at your school level, you would probably do better to concentrate on voice.

I recommend that you find a well respected voice teacher and get an evaluation. You will likely need voice lessons to have a successful audition for vocal performance. My daughter's teacher told us that the days are gone where singers are admitted based on potential or just raw talent. They want to see singers with technical skills. It may come easily to you, but a good voice teacher will let you know what you need.

There are tons of BM programs in musical theater. Look at OCU and Baldwin-Wallace. Also, Indiana University has a BSOF program for Voice Performance with an outside field in Theater. It's like a 'build your own' musical theater degree, but inside a music major.
