Voices of Tufts application

I'm really interested in applying to this program, but I'm confused about the essay section. 100 words of what? I'm assuming that it's specifically about diversity, yes?

Also, I'm a middle-class straight white girl, and not first gen. They're inviting more.....minority students to diversity day. How much does this hurt me?

100 words on why you want to attend.
It’s mentioned right after the section saying what info you’ll need if you’re asking for financial assistance.

I’m in the same demographic as you, and so far I haven’t heard if I’m invited to attend or not although I submitted my application a while ago. So who knows! :P

Yeah I saw that, but I’m not sure exactly what to write. Maybe I’m just overthinking it, but I know I’m applying late and I want to give a good impression. I was thinking about talking how diversity has affected me etc, would that fit?

Hey guys, I got invited to the Voice of Tufts program this year
I applied 2 weeks ago and my counselor just submitted my transcript and recommendation letter on Thursday morning Oct 13 and right away in the afternoon I received their invitation through e-mail
I didn’t really talk about my sexual orientation in my application though, but I guess my counselor did mention in her recommendation letter that I’m Asian and come from a low-income family for I have only been to the States for one and a half year.
I know the deadline has passed so just want to ask if you guys got invited as well (:

I was VERY last minute, with computer malfunctions and finding out about the program so late. I’m not from a very special background or something and my essay wasn’t the favorite I’ve written so I’m not expecting an invitation :/

I still haven’t heard from them, even though the last thing of mine to be submitted was my transcript and that was on October 3rd.
So I’m thinking maybe not? But they haven’t said no… So we’ll see.
But hey, when you log into your Admissions Connection account, does it say (under the “What do you want to do today?” section) you’re scheduled for the event Voices Fall Program: October 27-28 2011? (That question is to both of you!)

@Profogue: Yes, in my account it does say I’m schedule for that event. Did you try to contact them yet?
And I really didn’t expect to receive my notification that fast, even my counselor was surprised too.

Mine says I’m scheduled for the event, but I never got an invitation by email.

And I called them on the 7th, I believe, but the lady seemed annoyed that I called and she told me they hadn’t reviewed my application yet.

It says that on mine too…

Hm. Maybe it just means they received the application?

Well I was accepted!

@JusPhys: Congrats! That’s great news
I just sent them my confirmation today, still waiting for someone to contact me about booking ticket and stuffs.
Hope to see you there :)

Yay, I was invited too. :)

wooh, I was invited! I was just wondering how selective it is? slash are most people admitted if they were accepted???

I think last year 200/350 got accepted.

@JusPhys: where do you get that number from? If it really is, it’s even easier than applying early to Tufts …

Do you know how many people (approx) apply early to Tufts?

I just got this email today and I didnt even know I was admitted for the program

We haven’t heard from you! In order to make arrangements for your stay during the Voices of Tufts program October 27-28, we need to know that you’re planning to attend. In order to confirm your spot in the program, please fax your confirmation page to the attention of … by noon on Wednesday, October 19. We’re looking forward to meeting you!

wait WHAT?!?! how is that fair?! i’m having the same problem as other people. I still don’t have an e-mail confirming/denying, but when i log onto tufts website it says i’m scheduled and i’m so confused

If you’re confused, call admissions and they can connect you to the woman who is part of the program. That’s how I got the number, I was curious so I asked.
