I'm looking for programs for high school students for volunteering abroad. The ones I have seen like GLA & Cross Cultural Solutions cost an obscene amount of money, and GLA seems to spam threads on CC with testimonials from new users with very little posts. These programs seem to be for rich private school kids. Is it too late to sign up for a program? I am not exactly rich, but I'd be very interested in a program. Is there a reputable but not extremely expensive program out there? I found this: http://www.ifrevolunteers.org/aboutus.php but I'm not sure how reputable they are. Any help would be appreciated.

I know it is already too late for me to post this but Diversity Abroad is a reputable program. They send people abroad for their studies, internship, volunteer and even teaching abroad. You might be interested
It never ceases to amaze me how much money people are willing to spend on a “poverty tourism” trip to boast on their CV. The money would be better spent by just giving it to an overseas charity. Are there no local volunteer opportunities that aren’t beneath your interest?
