Why send a wannabe physiologist to an Ivy or service academy? If you think it’ll be less expensive, he still needs the training as a physical therapist, which he won’t get at those colleges. And he’d have to present to them as wanting- and being prepared for- what they do offer.

Does this plan make sense?

He has two kids.

She has at least two kids.

I hate to say it…but it’s quite confusing having a poster post about two different kids…when the discussions have been about one kid in particular. Or so it seems.

@skieurope : well, you guys complained that I opened too many threads then told me not to open more threads, then mingled my threads, then closed my threads. The admin groups seem to be inconsistent too. What should I do?

You can start by not commenting on moderation, which is against the TOS.

If you write about different kid, it helps us if you always refer to Kid1 who is intereded interested in XYZ as Kid1, and Kid2 who is interested in ABC as Kid2. That way we can keep them straight so our advice can be focused.

When you wrote, “This one is different kid,” I thought you meant the academy kid is different than other kids, not ‘This is my other son.’ Four existing threads and I don’t know how we’re supposed to know 3 are about one kid and this one is the sibling.

All pretty confusing.

@lookingforward : i dont know why you link back to other kid. My question was if “kid wants to be kids who want to be a Physiotherapist should volunteer at gym club and nursing home gym? “ since you mentioned it was ok with for profit.
Anyway, sorry for confusion.

Well…now that we have that cleared up…we think…

A physiotherapist is, I believe, called a physical therapist in this country. To get to that point, it’s a doctoral program called a DPT. There is no question that shadowing a physical therapist, perhaps several different ones in different types of places, would be very valuable. For example, some PTs do sports medicine. Some do injury rehab. Some work in schools or hospitals or clinics. Some work with the elderly and some work in pediatrics.

If your kid does decide to pursue this route, you probably want to look at direct entry DPT programs whereby the kid is admitted as an undergrad but is guaranteed continued study until completion of the DPT.

The direct entry DPT programs are competitive. And there is seldom significant funding for them. Just FYI.

@carolinamom2boys can you add any info about DPT programs for this poster?

So I give you the following advice as a user, not as a moderator, because I am not moderating this thread.

I personally, find your posts confusing, and I don’t think I am alone in this thinking. Is the kid doing volunteer work at a young age the same kid that wants to be a physiotherapist and the same kid that wants to study law and the same kid that wants to go to an Ivy League college and the same kid that wants to go to a service academy and the same kid that can’t swim well but wants to be recruited for water polo?

As I have previously told you, repetitive threads are not allowed, which is why your threads get merged. But if you’re asking questions about 2 different kids, each child should be a distinct thread. Talking about kid 2 in the middle of a thread about kid 1 only confuses the issue.

Now having said that, when you ask a question, particularly if the story is perceived as incomplete, other users will ask questions to try to help. They are not asking questions to be nosy. So responses like;

are perceived as an unwillingness to listen. If a thread is just going to go around in circles, then there is no reason to keep open and will get closed.

Please help the users help you.
