Volunteer hours confirmation??

Let me start off by saying, no I didn’t lie about my hours.
I volunteer at this children’s museum. I help with their online marketing, I clean up after kids, I help build and lead activities. The volunteer coordinator recently left and the new one has no idea who I am. When schools call to confirm my hours this woman won’t even know me. I’m not sure if they record hours because I think you have ti record them yourself?
Thanks for the help

Do you have a form for volunteer hours. I know I have learned the mistake of kid #1 and insisted kid #2 for getting a school form.

It is extremely unlikely that you will be asked to provide confirmation of your hours. UC’s will ask a small percentage of applicants to provide documentation, but the request will come to you, not the organization.

Don’t stress on this until it happens. Having said that, make sure that your reported hours are within the realm of reason. Nobody is expecting timecards, but don’t say 1000 hours, when it was really 75.

I think as long as there are records that you are there you should be ok.

Generally colleges don’t call to confirm hours.

UCs sometimes send follow up questionnaires to applicants - they might ask you to validate some things you’ve included on your ap. While no one expects time cards, you may need something - perhaps a thank you letter from the place you spent those hours.

Before you put it on the application, think - how can i validate this claim? It is easiest to do it as you go. Collect an email, or letter, take some photos of you doing the activity… .that type of thing.

Our school keeps a registry because volunteer hours are a graduation requirement. I assume they go to colleges as part of the guidance counseling report.

My S’s school doesn’t have any volunteer hours requirements nor do they have any official forms for it - they truly don’t care. How one could verify their volunteering should the situation arise, given not all the hours can be confirmed - they may not be through an organization which holds the information on all the participants?
