I am having trouble thinking of some volunteer opportunities for the summer, any ideas? So far I am thinking about volunteering at a hospital. Any ideas?

I volunteer at a clothes closet for like 4 hours a week. But you could try an animal shelter, but all the ones I looked at you have to be 18.

What I do is I go to this website: www.gocitykids.com And then find biggest city closest to you and under the drop down menu labled "nieghborhoods" find your town and select it. Now, the town I live in is too small, so it is not on the menu, but there are larger towns in my area such as Naperville to the North, Joliet to the South, Bolingbrook to the west, and Aurora to the east, which were all in the drop down menu for Chicago. Once you chosen your city then it gives you list of city venues, local attractions, museums and thier offical sites. Visit the official sites and look for a volunteer hompage. If you are lucky you may even get a volunteer application.

Useing this method I have gotten two volunteer gigs. One at a museum and another at a community theater. You can also try more conventional websites such as www.volunteermatch.org, but I don't find them very useful. Be resourceful.

prankity is the man or girl.

man :)

(10 char.)

i dont know.. but what i do for volunteering is go out and teach kids chinese yoyo and choreography. if not then everything else i do is either tied to key club or NHS.

just try something thats a bit out of the box and not just volunteering at the library. i personally like doing environmental and community stuff, like donations or planting trees.

I volunteer at a death-blind center? I just finished training! and plan on voluteering at a dog shelter and no u dont have to be 18...most i know have to be 16 a few 12

I volunteered at a Summer Theater Workshop at my school and had a blast! Whatever you are interested in, there's a tie-in volunteer opportunity. You just have to find it.

Hmm... well from what I know, and I have volunteered before with the animal shelter (and other animal organizations..), you have to be at least 18 due to liability reasons. Say if you get attacked.. or something crazy, the organization doesnt want to be held responsible and neither does your school (if by chance your are doing a school club that involves itself with the said organizations)
