Volunteer Interview advice ?

So I applied to volunteer at the EMP (Experience Music Project) this summer specifically for the Avatar Exhibition. I sent in my application and in a couple days they emailed me and said that they would like to interview me before putting me on the position.

I was just wondering, even though it's not a job interview, should I dress up anyways for the interview ? My mom said you don't have to because working at the EMP is not an office job; she said that I should dress up nicely, but not like I'm going in for a office job interview.

A couple months ago I got an interview with Cinnabon and when I went in for the interview I wore a nice top and a nice pair of jeans. However this interview was a group interview and the other people being interviewed were wearing slacks and nice dress shirts. I felt as if my casual dress sort of cost me the job at Cinnabon.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just really want to clarify, and I really want to get this volunteer position (:

I’m not familiar with EMP, but if you don’t know what attire is appropriate, it’s generally a good idea to dress up a notch rather than dress down.
