There is this retirement home really close to my house that I'm interested in volunteering at. The problem is I don't know if this is considered volunteer service because it is a private organization. Don't you have to work for a non-profit organization in order for it to be considered community service?

If it's a for-profit enterprise, they may not accept volunteers. Or they may call it an "internship," which could be paid or unpaid. One suggestion, try to do community service in an area in which you have a real passion or interest. That way, you not only get more out of it personally, but you will bring more to it.

they do accept volunteers.. bump
