I applied for the congressional page program but im nervously waiting to hear about that and in the mean time Im considering options for summer if i dont get in. Volunteering abroad defintiely interests me the most, especially in Europe or Asia. Im only 17, however. are there any relatively cheap programs that are very good?

Try some political and economic programs for leaders that have low costs. At http://www.southriverhigh.org/top/life/academic/deca.html, there's a link to a fairly prestigious program our school has info on.

Look up Economics for Leaders.

I was originally from India ( came here in about 1992), and visit there once every few summers. Honestly, if you really want, it is really simple to volunteer at a local insitute for health or human welfare or something; i basically just walked in to this one home for displaced people while visintg my relatives this last summer (can only stand me grandparents for so long ;) ) and put in a fair few hours after I saw I really liked the stuff I was doing. (not sure how many hours exactly though)

thanks but id really rather go abroad through a program. anything else?
