Volunteering Abroad?

<p>Hey everyone,
It's the summer now, and I need to volunteer! Not because I want to impress colleges (but it also is a reason) but to really feel like i have a purpose.</p>

<p>I would love to volunteer abroad but some of the programs I've looked at costs thousands of dollars and to make things worse, they don't pay for plane tickets.</p>

<p>Anyone know a program/organization i can volunteer for where it's cheap to go abroad?

<p>It’s kind of late now … most programs’ deadlines are before mid-June.</p>

<p>Instead of volunteering abroad this summer, why not just volunteer locally? Do you have a food bank in your area? Could you help at a nearby hospital? etc.</p>

<p>Well, start your own food bank. I know someone who did that because she lived in a pretty small city.</p>
