volunteering.. colleges are phone-calling to check-up?

i read already on CC ask the dean that colleges do call to make sure that there are no fabrications on your resume regarding volunteerships. does that mean that we should also provide the phone numbers and specific names of the volunteering places? should we also include contact personnel and website info? lol basically, how much info should we provide on outside activities? any formats? =) working on apps right now so i would like to know. thanks in advance!

Well, we'll ask the obvious question first...do you intend to fabricate any of your volunteering? :p

haha no no, not at all. in fact, everything's already been posted in detail on CC by me (though i think it was a mistake because i don't feel it was polished and any college can easily id me lol)

do people really do that though.. ? i heard that it's really actually not too uncommon???!

my friend once told me that his cousin put he was native american on his apps and when he went for the interview it was a big uh oh time xD

Yeah, no. They don't do that unless something just doesn't "fit" or seem right. They don't have time to go through 23,000 apps and make sure ALL of them told the truth on their apps. Now, as I said, if something just isn't right, they may check up on it (like, if you failed basic math and magically got 1st place in USAMO or something like that).

lol ok. thank you !! =) so providing/not providing the phone numbers is both ok? >< are we supposed?

If they want confirmation and can't get it without information from you, they should call and let you know.

Then again, it might be a nice touch, just to show that you're thinking ahead and covering all the bases, which you apparently are. As I see it, why not?

thaaaaanx!! =) and congratz on going to yale!!!!!! xD haha, did YOU put the phone numbers and stuff in?

haha, thanks. I did not put phone numbers, but that's because I'm a terrible citizen and my only significant volunteering was my science research, and I figured the 20-page paper and recommendation letter from my mentor were enough testament of the fact that I actually did it :p

haha you're right! =p well put. i guess i'm going to do the same lol not with science related research though =)
