Volunteering Problem

So... I have a dilemma, and I would want some advice. I want to volunteer for my local hospital, but on the application you need to have a neighbor's reference. Problem is, I don't know any of my neighbors, and some seem very snobby. I need that reference to volunteer, so my mom said that she could pose as my neighbor, but I don't know. Do you guys think that's wrong or bad? That would be the only way to volunteer. What should I do?

Thanks for the replies.

Get a teacher to do it. Teachers always look good no matter what.

But don't get your mom to pose as the neighbor... that might backfire if they decide to check (which they usually don't but just in case)

I need a teacher's, a family friend's (which I assume my aunt will be fine), and a neighbor's reference; but I don't know any of my neighbors, so I don't know who to get.

You don't know ANYBODY that lives near you? Get a friend's mom to do it or something. Neighbors can be, say, the next neighborhood down can't they?

I don't know them, and I don't really know any of my friends' mom.

Bump...

(10 char.)

Call the hospital and explain that you don't really know any of your neighbors. Ask if you could use another teacher or something like that.

Lying to get the job is sort of... amoral, especially considering that they're trying to get character references.

That's what I was thinking. I don't want to get something I don't deserve. However, one of my friends applied for it two years ago, and asked the same thing, and they told her she needed a neighbor. I guess I don't think I'll be able to volunteer at the hospital.
