Volunteering Suggestions

Can anyone think of some volunteer opportunities that I should do? Lately I've been volunteering at places that don't really need volunteers, or the number of volunteers available exceeds the number necessary(I live in a pretty affluent area). We even have waiting lists! I don't volunteer for college, I volunteer because I want to make a difference in some way. Personally, I don't feel that sitting on the ground while I hand out stickers to people is beneficial to society. I want to do something meaningful, so do any of you guys have any suggestions? I'm open to starting my own organization if necessary, I just don't want to be volunteering at the events I have been.

Some of the things I would enjoy attributing my time to:
1) Anything with seniors
2) Supply drives ex: food, clothing, other necessities etc.
3) Bake sales or making something to sell to raise money

I'm really open to anything that actually benefits people. If anyone needs further clarification, please let me know:)

Many senior citizens would benefit greatly by having someone shop for them, do laundry (or deliver it and pick it up) help with household chores, or take packages to the post office… services that might be needed but are too expensive to hire someone. If you live where there are a lot of seniors, there is a lot of opportunity to help. I could imagine working with a friend or two ( or more, if you want to start your own organization), deciding how you want to help, passing out flyers or talking to senior centers… endless possibilities. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll definitely consider them. We have a local senior center that I was thinking of volunteering at, so I’ll look into it.
^I’ve heard of that club but I always thought it was just a club through school. Thanks for the website, I’ll look at it:)
