Which choice would look better on my resume. I really want to do the volunteering but a lot of my friends are planning to go into a summer course next summer (I'm a rising junior), I really don't want to do anything that can hurt my chances but I also really want to do volunteer work.

Do the volunteer work if you like it much better than. The point is not loading up with stuff you dislike but to follow what you enjoy.

Yes, volunteer if you want to volunteer. You aren’t expected to take summer courses.

I’m doing both, and it’s been great! I think if I had to choose I’d pick volunteering because it’s so much fun. Also, I don’t think extra classes really affect admission unless you’re getting credit for them.

I also think that if you volunteer you should go in it alone without your friends because it’s a really different experience putting yourself out there and meeting new people. It makes you more of an adult, imo and i love it. Definitely reccomend it
