As a junior, I want to apply Early Decision to Princeton this fall. What do you predict: acceptance, deferral, or rejection? Thanks in advance.

Clearly you understand how far below average your SATs are for Princeton. As a fellow urm, I'm hoping you're not suggesting that urms get in with such stats just because they are minorities. Certainly schools want diversity and many good schools will be interested, but I wouldn't count on an ivy.

reeeeject
why not try something selective but not as competitive as princeton: northwestern, brown, cornell, but ur SATs are too low for even those schools

Rejection...
I agree with , there are some great schools that don't weigh the SAT as much or won't be chocked full of 2400's. Everything else looks great...

Being black will help a bit, but deafness? Sounds like a pretty good hook to me. But even that won't get you into Princeton with your low SATs. I'd predict rejection.

You will get into college, but not Princeton, or any Ivy for that matter. Don't waste your time and money. What you need to do is apply to schools that are more of a match. Take a look at Penn State, Syracuse, U of Delaware, U of Pittsburgh, U of Connecticut, or UMass. If you want a smaller school, look at Wabash College, Hobart and William Smith, St. Lawrence, the College of Wooster. And there's tons of state schools you could get into as well. Don't overestimate your chances. You'll only screw yourself.

What if I can get 1950 on SAT? Will that help?

I think you will be rejected. If you are a Senior your chances are much better.

deferred, and not waitlisted, if you are applying ED

1950 on SAT should give you more boost.

Don't get discouraged. Anything's possible. A girl got in Princeton with 1950 SAT. Someone with similiar stats (yes, even with 1850ish SAT) got deferred in Princeton ED as well. Hey, at least it's not rejection. So, just give Princeton a shot. If you get in, awesome. If you don't, it's Princeton's loss. Good luck!

What hairy isn't telling you is that the girl who got into Princeton with the 1950 SAT probably had a very big hook of some kind - she was an Olympic diver, or a nationally ranked fencer, or her mother was a famous actress, or her parents had lots of money and the university saw the possibility of a large donation. Realistically, even as a URM, you're not competitve at a school like Princeton until your SATs clear 2100. The median V+M at Princeton is 1465. The 25th percentile is 1380. You have an M+V of 1180. Sorry, but it's so unlikely that you'd get into Princeton that it verges on the impossible. On the other hand, schools like Seton Hall, Temple, Hofstra, and the U of Cincinnati would probably accept you in a minute. I may be beating a dead horse here, but I will repeat myself: Be realistic. If you need to apply to Princeton, do it with the understanding that you will almost certainly be rejected. And make sure you apply to other schools that are more appropriate to your SAT scores, GPA, and class rank.

Wow. I never expected the same response with strong agreement that I would get rejected even in ED round :(

Did you really think that you would get accepted with an 1850? I know a guy that got rejected with a 1600/1600, 4.0-val. at my very competitive school, 2 varsity sports and other excellent ECs. He did get into Harvard though...I wish you the best of luck, but I really see no chace. Try some other schools though, there are some great schools that you could go to out there.

I understand that I have unrealistic chance at Princeton at this point. But, I'm still a junior, and I will retake SAT by the end of junior year and next year. So far I have scored in the range of 1950 on practice tests. How much will 1950 on SAT help me?

Having poor financial circumstances and a disadvantaged background in a city school, the girl wrote amazing essays and blew the admission officers away (from what I understood).

apply, though it is incredibly unlikely that you will get in.
though I can't say much, I'm applying to pton this year with beyond low SAT scores...
but you can always try! right?

If you must apply to an ivy, apply to a lower one.

goodluck

A 1950, still, is not that good. You will probably need AT LEAST a 2100+, but, like abeautiful said, if you really want to go to an ivy, you could try Cornell.

Yeah Aim a little lower. There are plenty of good schools you can get into.

Dude how could you think you would have a shot with an 1180? I don't care if it's early decision or not, that will not make up for your SUBBBBBPAR SAT scores. I don't see how you could have ever kidded yourself into thinking you had a good chance. I vote: reject.

You guys are CRUEL!
I think probably deferal! I very much sympathize with the fact that you are deaf and i hope princeton realizes that too, you must have lived a very difficult life and I wish you the best of luck with admissions
