VPA credit...What?

Hi,

I'm a senior attending a public high school when I learned today from my counselor that the UCs require a full year straight of a Visual Performing Arts class in order to be eligible for admission. I took band for VPA credit during the second semester of my freshman and sophomore year. The first semesters were for PE credit. Does taking two semesters in separate years fill the 1 year requirement, or do I really have to add a class to my schedule? This is what it says on the ucop:

Q: To meet the year-long VPA course requirement, is it acceptable for a student to take the first semester of a year-long course one year and the second semester another year?

A: Yes. Students must be exposed to one year of VPA course content in the same arts discipline (i.e., drama, dance, music, visual arts) regardless of which year the first and second semesters are taken, but the semesters must be taken in sequence.

My situation is that I took the VPA class both during second semester.
Assuming that I am in a situation where I have to add another class, can anybody tell me what is the best solution?
My options so far are to take Photo 1 for a year, or take a class at a community college. Are there any other viable options? Any good online courses that can fill the requirement?

Thanks much.

If the class is for PE credit, I'm not sure if it can count toward VPA. You'd better check.

I think the OP meant the band class was VPA credit second semester only and PE credit first semester only, but I agree, check with your counselor to confirm it's an acceptable VPA course.

I think the OP is reading the last sentence of the Q&A wrong. The way I see that last sentence, it would mean to me that they don't want you to take part 2 before part 1. Like taking Spanish 2 before taking Spanish 1. They want you to take it in sequence, like a building block.
