Hi, I have been accepted to all of these schools and am deciding between them. I’m planning on studying aerospace engineering. Cost and reputation are most important. VIRGINIA TECH will cost me a relatively cheap out of state tuition of around $43,000, UMICH will cost me almost 60K and OSU is in state so will be less than 30K. I would be in debt at both VT and UMICH. All of these are great engineering schools, as they are all ranked in the top 25, but UMICH seems to have the best reputation.
My main question is, are employers going to view a degree from either of these schools in a similar way, and will it really benefit me to spend tens of thousands of dollars extra to go to VT or UMICH?
I felt like the overall atmosphere at VT was the best, and I liked the campus a lot. I liked OSUs campus also and the overall collaborative environment, while UMICH seemed over competitive.
Also if anyone has any insight into the quality of these engineering schools, I would appreciate it.
