I'm going to be entering VT as Class of 2017 next year (University Honors for General Biosciences). I understand that in a year's time the school may grow on me, but at this point I'm considering a transfer to UVa after one year. Obviously I'll give it a chance - but that's not the point.

Would I gain any strategic advantage in transferring from VT to UVa in terms of medical school acceptance? VT MAY be a tad easier in terms of having a higher GPA, but would UVa have THAT many more opportunities for medical volunteering and internships? Would it be worth transferring?

This isn't going to make me decide one or the other. I'm just trying to get a better understanding of my choices and opportunities before I do anything. If I AM going to apply for UVa transfer, I'd like to get started on it sooner rather than later.

Also UVa's McIntire seems really appealing to me and I'd potentially apply to that for junior year if I were able to transfer for second year.
