VT transfer

Hello friends,

I have officially completed my first semester at Virginia Tech.
I have earned roughly a 3.5 GPA
I have been involved in:

SGA: Student Outreach Committee
Model United Nations-IRO at Virginia Tech
Phi Alpha Delta-member
Chi Alpha-Christian Organization
Leadership Tech Participant
I work at a coffee shop called Deets
and I interned for a State Senate Campaign for Nancy Dye

I have enjoyed my first semester to the fullest, however,
I am still thinking about transferring.

I am so thankful for the opportunities, classes, and experiences at Virginia Tech. But I would be interested in applying to Syracuse University, Boston University, George Washington University, and Northwestern or Cornell (either one). Let me know what you all think.

You have to have a clear reason why you want to transfer. This is not evident in your post but I see from another thread that it might be financial. As you know, it is harder to get good financial aid as a transfer student so it might not be affordable to transfer. In any case, if you want to stand a chance at getting in as a transfer applicant if the school is highly selective, you need to have a very good reason and be able to articulate it clearly.

I want to transfer because I want a more challenging curriculum (All A’s in my political science classes), a city atmosphere, and a variety of law firms near my institution to intern. @xraymancs

Sounds like a clear motivation. Since you are trying to transfer as a Sophomore, your high school academic record and your test scores should figure into the decision. A 3.5 is good and you seem to be getting involved on campus. Give it a try , for the 2012 year Syracuse had a 51% admission rate for transfers, Cornell had about 20%, Boston University was 28% and Northwestern was 12%…

Thank you! I am also considering GWU (which is now test-optional), so is Boston University. And unfortunately I ended with a 3.4 which is close to a 3.5! @xraymancs
