my mom lives in roanoke so i would live with her since it's closer to virginia tech
and my dad lives in maryland so i'd live with him if i choose gw.

i'm entering in as a geography major.
i'm currently in a rural town but i'm flexible; i don't care whether i'm in a city or not. i've visited both.

vt gave me a bad financial aid package and i'm waiting on gw. gw supposedly gives good financial aid (can someone clarify this please?)

where should i go?

ps i do not buy the internship thing about DC.
i have just as much opportunity to get an internship in DC if i choose to go to VT. i've interned in DC twice and i've met students from all over and have only met 2 DC interns. i've interned at the air and space museum and congress.

would i be able to obtain a research position easily?
when does the fixed rate thing "expire?" (i'm staying longer than 4 years for my BA to catch up on my credits, plus i'm minoring and adding another major)

You sound like a tranfer student? Interned twice? Was this as a high-school student? Incoming freshman are required to live in on-campus housing for the 1st 2 years - Not sure how you could live in MD - don’t know if being a commuter student is possible??

Personally - as a geography major you’d be crazy to not go to VT - especially given the low cost of tuition and cost of attendance (prob the reason your FA was poor - you don’t have the need).

Even though GW gives “good” FA - it rarely ever is more than 50% COT - so your looking at 30-35K/yr out-of-pocket for GW. I bet VT is about 18-20K total/yr. That’s about 60K over 4 yrs - i’m not sure GW is worth that for a geog major.

Can’t really comment on the research - but I am aware GW has an undergraduate research program. See below:

At GW, you will have access to various organizations and documents related to geography. Besides Tech, blacksburg doesn’t have the same things to offer. Anyway, if you’re looking toward a promising career, a GW degree can go a long way.
