What would the fit be for my daughter from MA and the northeast at either of these schools? Would their academics be about the same? She would attend their business schools. She is not the super outgoing or cheerleader type but a little shy. She is not sporty but is excited about both schools’ spirit around the sports. She is interested in both schools’ study abroad opportunities and TCU seems to be stronger in that area. She loves both campuses. TCU seems to have smaller classes and more support and accountability from the school. Our concern is fit and the strong Greek life at TCU. The biggest concern is fit with a northeastern shy girl not wearing makeup with the very outgoing type A personalities (and very friendly)we noticed when we were there. Would she find her group and be happy if she joined Greek life and could she be happy if she didn’t? She is currently leaning towards VT because it may be “easier” to fit in for a shy gal from the northeast than going to a more southern school, however, easier is not always the best. For this purpose we are not concerned about the financial differences. Thank you so much.
What major in business ??
To me it’s a contrast between enormous and not enormous. Both are super nice.
In society vs in its own bubble.
Nature vs not nature.
They are so different. It would sound like Va Tech would offer more opportunities but both schools are large enough that she will have a chance to find her people.
Both are solid choices. Only she can really decide. We don’t know her.
As for study abroad most schools have solid opportunities or connections via other college programs so that would impact me less.
Good luck.
TCU is a top 20 undergrad business school in a suburban location. Va. Tech is unranked for undergrad business by Poets and Quants in a rural location. I would think your daughter could find friends at either.
Does your D have a preference?
Can you visit both options on accepted student day?
