VT vs William and Mary (for business)

I know that generally W&M seems to have higher rankings overall, but what about for business specifically? At first I was sure that I'd go to W&M, but I visited Tech this weekend and really liked it. The business program seemed strong too. So what is the general consensus on which one is better program/looks better to future employers? Thank you for any feedback.

^ Grad school wise, just some information for ya. Also, I’ve lived in Williamsburg since middle school, and I’ve known countless high school friends who went right into William and Mary and they don’t like it haha… Lotta weird people on the W&M campus (no offense). And good luck doing anything fun on a Friday or Saturday night campus and stuff around town’s not that exciting. Pauls Deli and a few other popular places. Besides that Williamsburg is a true retirement community. VT too me has more life and youth to it. (Plus I LOVE the mountains haha). Just my .02

The W&M business program looks better to future employers. I went to Pamplin at VT and it was quite annoying after graduation because employers felt that the graduates from UVA and W&M were superior. I was still hired by the same companies but I felt that the employers were willing to take only the very best students from Tech.

Chris, I don’t discount the fact that WM and UVA have great business programs, they absolutely do and UVA in particular has a reputation of being better than Tech’s. But I question your quote, “employers felt that the graduates from UVA and W&M were superior”. With confidentiality laws in place, exactly how do you know the way those employers felt about who they interviewed or ultimately hired? Did you ASK them? Maybe you felt they were superior, but to make that statement is kind of misleading.

And secondly, what is wrong with said employers taking only the best from Tech? Are you saying that you can be mediocre and get hired just because your diploma says UVA or WM. I highly doubt it. Try to rise to the top no matter where you go to school; it is a tough world out there right now for graduates and you want to be among the best in your class on paper and in person in order to get that great first job! P.S. I am glad you were hired!
