W-131

Ok from what i hear this class is hell. How accurate is that statement? What makes it so hard? Also, is there anyway to place out of it? On the kelley website, it says you need a minimum grade of a C to be considered for admission. But it also says you need to have consistent B's. Which one do i follow?

sorry for all the questions but i am just concerned.

Indy,

Take a look at the following thread.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/indiana-university-bloomington/752000-textbook-question-eng-w-131-a.html?highlight=131

Also, would you still be able to enroll in the equivalent of W-131 in a CC during Summer II? You need to make sure that it can be transferred back to IUB per the following link:

[Credit Transfer Service: Admissions: Indiana University](http://cts.admissions.indiana.edu/)

The “C” comes in when you look at the Kelley rule that if you get less than a “C” in any Icore prerequisite, then that class cannot be counted toward the Icore prerequisites.

If you were a direct admit, a C in any Icore prerequisite won’t hurt you, as you will already be in Kelley.

If you are not a direct admit, even though the C meets the minimum requirement for the class to be counted toward the Icore prerequisites, the C will technically meet the requirement, but it will also likely damage your chances of getting into Kelley.

Can anyone tell me how much reading is involved in Eng W131? S (music major) is concerned about how much reading is required.

indycarkid, you should strive to get an A in W-131. You should at least get an B for all your pre-req courses. It’s true that for W-131 it is more difficult to get an A compared to other english classes.

1) the general notion is that a english major is an easy major… the schools not just IU try to combat this by making the introductory classes more difficult in obtaining an A.

jazzkat, you should expect to read a fairly decent amount throughout the course. This depends of course in your instructor but if your prepared you can’t go wrong.
