W-2 Tax forms

Just got a letter saying they wanted w-2 and 2004 tax forms. I have not even been admitted yet. Don't most colleges ask for these by May 1, why is ND asking for them so early, what is the story?

ya its hard to say whether the financial aid office works independently of the admissions office or whether they're tipping you off to your acceptance. I have heard that the two offices do not have correspondence on these matters tho because it is a need-blind school.

Brenner, I'm assuming this request came form the financial aid office? Maybe you didn't apply for financial aid - either you don't need it or didn't realize the date had passed; isn't the financial aid deadline for incoming freshmen around March 15th? Then maybe that's why they need your tax information - they're divying (sp?) up the financial aid pie at the correct time, whether or not you're admitted. If this is the case, send it in promptly.

If you are not applying for financial aid I'd call the office that sent the letter, probably financial aid, and ask about if you need to send it if you're not applying for aid.

Do you think notre dame will not request these forms if they can figure out from the CSS and the FAFSA that I have no need?

I am applying for Finaid. But how can they expect us to have taxes done so early. All the other colleges only want this by May 1, i.e. with your deposit.
