What are the stats for kids that receive the full ride Johnson Scholarship at Washington and Lee?
Following because I would love to know!
I’m a current Johnson, and my stats were close to perfect (36 ACT and 4.0 UW gpa), but I know a good amount of Johnsons who had great-but-not-perfect scores (34ish ACT, not sure of hs gpa). I also had fairly strong EC leadership (I don’t know how I was able to manage back then!), and refs from teachers who I had a great relationship with. However, the Johnson is really dependent on your essay. I wrote about a life-changing event that was very raw and close to my heart, and that is what got me through the process. My stats certainly helped, but I think the essay is what really matters. I would also try to do a local alumni interview if possible. Mine went really well, and I’m sure that helped! Good luck to all! I am very grateful for the opportunities that my scholarship affords me.
I think the essay is a big deal too. My daughter is a Johnson, and the interviewers LOVED her essay. That is all they talked about. I will also say, it was not at all serious, but is showed her personality.
