I’m applying from out of state. W&M is definitely one of my top choices!

I’m in an instate applicant. I think my essay about being colorful was really good.
When will RD applicants hear about admission? Do you hear about merit scholarships (e.g. 1693 Scholars or Monroe Scholars) at time of admission or separately?
They say no later than April 1, but that’s only a latest possible date. Last year decisions were released March 26. They don’t seem to wait for a Friday, when they are ready they release them en masse.
@CoMoMom From what I gather from reading their blogs and talking to some friends, monroe scholar notifications are received a few weeks before. Joint degree program notifications are sent a day or two afterwards. I got mine in an email shortly afterwards and a formal declaration when the admissions package was mailed in. And 1693 program students seem to have a whole different process altogether. It’s really quite selective and a multilayered process, so they notify you early on if you are a candidate. There’s a weekend where you meet the selection committee and get interviewed if you are being considered and the final eight are chosen by mid April.

@shawnspencer Thanks so much for this helpful information! It is greatly appreciated.
@CoMoMom Not a problem! The admissions representative is usually around on these parts that does a great job answering questions, but I haven’t seen her in a while so I tried to help where I could. When I applied to the school last year, they were a big help. Best of luck with your applications!
Good luck to you all!
Accepted by email this afternoon!
OOS 2280 SAT, 34 ACT, 740 Bio, 730 Math, 3.9 gpa
@SoapyMango you were admitted today? Was that for a scholarship or something, because they would have posted “Decisions, Decisions”
@Skibbles4 The only notifications admissions say they’ve sent out are for Monroe Scholars and William & Mary Scholars. Best guess on “Decisions and Decisions” is a week or so from now.
yes, I guess I received the email because they did offer me Monroe Scholar!
Congrats, @soapymango! That’s quite an honor.
Agreed!
