@Arlmom2 Thank you for the info. You brought up something that I love about W & M: their generosity with AP credits. It’s frustrating to see that some schools are so limiting with it.
@vaboots W&M is fairly generous with AP credits. I can’t tell, though, how the system will work with the new COLL gen ed courses. It doesn’t look as though students will be able to place out of the COLL courses, so the AP credits may be less useful…
Got my Monroe email today I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about the specifics? I’m a bit worried that if I were to opt to stay in the Monroe dorm, I’d be fairly isolated from everyone else and wouldn’t get as much out of my freshman experience. Is that the case?
@maustimproved Congratulations!
Monroe isn’t isolated at all. In addition, roughly half the students in Monroe are Monroe Scholars and about half aren’t. You’ll also make friends through your classes and activities. I’m not sure why you think you “wouldn’t get as much out of your freshman experience”. That said, if you want to live in one of the big high rises, you can certainly make that choice. Deciding to be a Monroe doesn’t mean you have to live in the dorm!
You can find a big campus map here:

You – and others – can find much more information about the Monroe Scholars here:

Has any of the ED admits receive their Monroe package? Reading the WM Admit responses, it seems they were mailed out the week of March 9th and only the RD admits received Monroe emails this past week.
@jjaeja Actually, there was some sort of problem with the packets. So students were notified by email. D2 received the email but hasn’t received her packet. It’s the 21st, we’re in Northern Virginia, and the message saying there was a problem with the delivery was sent out several days ago. Looks as though the problem may have been more significant than they thought.
@jjaeja Sorry - forgot to add that on the W&M admissions blog, they said that ED admits were invited to Monroe in December.
Has anyone received their admission packet yet that was already notified of acceptance?
I just now found this thread, but I’m happy to say I was accepted as a Monroe scholar also! Can’t wait to come visit again April 11!
Congrats @ggarner57! It’s a great school and Monroes are a good bunch of students - fun, but also really sharp academically.
@worldexplorer I haven’t seen anyone post that they’re received the printed packet, either here on this thread or elsewhere on the site. Maybe this week?
I haven’t gotten the printed packet yet (I’m in NJ).
Just received my packet today! In-state
I received my packet yesterday in NJ!
Got mine today in MN!
I can’t make the visit on the 11th, I’m really bummed does anyone know if there’s a makeup date?
