W&M Undergrad to W&M Law

Hello all,

I'm graduating this winter, a semester early, so I'm in the process of getting applications ready for law schools. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.63 and a LSAT of 170. Does anybody know if the W&M Law admissions office looks at W&M undergrads differently? I think I have a decent chance at admission into W&M Law, but I'm just curious what others' experiences are. Thanks for your time!

No Idea if they’ll look at you differently but you are very close to a lock into William and Mary anyways so it won’t matter.

If anything, I would urge you to apply to some schools that are more selective. I know W&M is close to home, but this is a disadvantage for you. It’ll be a good experience to move to a new location and immerse yourself into the environment there.

W&M law is one of the best in the country but spending three years experiencing another place has its merits as well. Good luck.

You will get into W&M Law for sure, don’t worry… you will also probably get a decent scholarship from them. You could also get into even better law schools if you want… you have a good shot at UVA Law, especially if you’re in-state… UVA and higher ranked schools will cost you considerably more, but depending on your career goals it may be worth it in the long run.

I know it’s several months after, but thank you for your responses. I would have responded sooner, but I’ve been in Ghana the last few months helping out an organization giving relief aid. To those who suggested I apply to higher-ranked schools, I’m taking your advice. I’m thinking of applying to UVA and Georgetown. I don’t think I’m a lock for either schools, but I think I’m at least competitive. Thanks again!

You are definitely competitive for UVA and Georgetown. I think that you should look even higher. If you received any free application fee waivers, use them.

Don’t go to W&M. Try to get into a T10 school.
