W on transcript for Grad School?

I am a current UCSD student with no W's on my record. However, I am a transfer student with 3 W's on my CC record. I am planning to drop a lab course with a W.

My question is: Will this 1 W on my UC transcript have a big effect on grad school admissions since I have 3 on my CC record or will the CC W's have no big impact since its ...COMMUNITY COLLEGE?

Thank you!!

To start, this is the wrong section. You probably should have posted in the grad school section.

I’m not vilifying you or anything, but I just meant that as an fyi tidbit.

Now, on to your question. Yes, the Ws from the CC will still hurt you since they’re still Ws and you will still need to submit the transcript from the CC to your prospective graduate school of study upon applying. The fact that it’s a community college does not mitigate the detrimental effects of the Ws, since a community college is still a college regardless of its admission standards.

Grad applications will want transcripts from “all institutions attended”, which means both your CC and the school you ultimately went on to transfer to.

One W wouldn’t be a big deal, but three more from CC might have more of a detrimental effect.
